Monthly Archives: January 2015
MSI meetings will start again on Jan 13th at the
57 Victoria st L16DE.
The building also known as Area 61.
The meetings will now take the form of 2 levels. The original level of Merseyside script Initiative which is an open meeting for all writers, actors and filmmakers to come to a 2 hour fortnightly meeting and read scripts which will be critiqued and supported as we always have done. These meetings will now take a 2.50 entry fee (especially to writers whom are having scripts read) but we also hope the other members will ferret out the donation or what they can towards it to help us cover the cost of the venue access. As a training initiative, this provides you as an actor to not just read someone else;s scripts but to hone your craft and make connections for potential projects that you know by now we will make.
The 2nd level will be on the alternate tues where the meetings are closed for individual works in progress. These meetings will start earlier and run longer to allot for actors and writers and filmmakers to participate in story development and rehearsals. Scripts will be selected and participants will now contribute to the funding of the films being made. Separate classes will be on offer that will feed into these alternate tues nights a well.
Its been a long time coming but Public House, an initiative born 2 years ago as a stage initiative is finally being produced for a January showcase. The name was changed last year to 2nd chance saloon as four writers were auditioned and collaborated on the making of our 4 scenes in a pub scenario. The stories written by Ian Newland, Colin Campbell, Irene Stuart and Alan Mockler were initially planned for the Page to Stage festival but decided to moe it to its own showcase as which was initially intended. Now, the play being produced by Chase Johnston-Lynch and directed by John Mc is now in rehearsals and hopes to go up at the Casa on Hope st. fri the 30th of Jan and running the 2nd and 3rd of February. Tickets will go on sale soon Pre order at 6£ and 5£ concession but 6.50 on the door.
Year in Review
MSI has had an intriguing and productive year in 2014, with Pilot Season running throughout the summer and our involvement with the Page to Stage festival in the fall. We were unable to produce the 2nd 0151 short film festival tour and look forward to it taking place in march 2015. We are also looking forward to finally premiering the 3 day showcase of the Public House play at the Casa at the end of January.start of february.
MSI was also happy to have its fortnightly meetings at the Gostins building on Hanover st but we are looking forward to moving to new location, the crown Buildings on Victoria st affectionately nicknamed Area 61.
NEW COURSES ON OFFER
MSI hopes to take its role as production company more seriously this year for after 2 years of producing free content for its membership, we are now looking to streamline and monetise by offering creative development courses with the Creative Space management team. we are planning non verbal acting workshops, Producing theory classes and strategic editing short courses that will be charged at various rates.
AREA 61 CREATIVE SPACE MANAGEMENT
Creative Space Management which owns the Victoria Meeting Rooms Space is willing to sponsor the new initiatives MSI Presents plan to host in their building. CSM has a BFI certification to run a community Cinema. They are developing hot desk office suites and are now in plans to turn their lower floor haunt space (raw area) in to a cyclorama suite. With additional computers and an MOCN educational certification to run classes, the building is looking to develop itself as a creative tower of community creative skills development.
